Ciao Ciao creates and manufactures gender-neutral accessories using a circular production model. The project was born from the desire to be able to create unique objects by recycling residual materials: leather scraps .
What you need to know is that the fashion industry is the second most polluting industry in the world. More than 800,000 tonnes of leather waste are generated worldwide annually.
As a creator, it was essential for me to build a project in which I could flourish while aligning my ecological values.
This is why the idea of starting from the concept of circular production made a lot of sense. The circular economy is mainly defined by these two mechanisms:
1. Rethink our production-consumption methods to consume fewer resources and protect the ecosystems that generate them.
2. Optimize the use of resources that already circulate in our societies.
At Ciao Ciao these mechanisms result in the revaluation of leather scraps which are recovered from local designers. We use pieces as small as a penny. Instead of these scraps ending up in the trash, they become our playground. Which means that we have an inexhaustible amount of resources at our disposal.
We take special care during product development to create accessories that will be practical and durable. It is important for us to be able to offer products that have a lifespan as long or longer than our users.
